Proofreading/Editing Experience and Qualifications

I have 20 years' experience in all levels of editing -- developmental, copyediting, and proofreading -- for both nonfiction and fiction titles. I specialize in creating style sheets/guides for new clients, based on CMS or APA, as well as in helping authors who are not full-time or professional writers take their ideas from concept to print.

My clients have included major houses such as Penguin Random House, Simon & Schuster, Scholastic, and Workman, as well as niche publishers such as Inner Traditions International, Appalachian Mountain Club, and Chelsea Green. I have also worked with a variety of independent authors, including academics.

Prior to becoming an independent writer, editor, and consultant, I held several on-staff positions with publishers: senior editor of Sante magazine, project editor for Storey Publishing, and proofreader for Newkirk Products and the Monthly Digest of Tax Articles.
