Bachelor of Arts (Hons), Anthropology and Communications, Goldsmiths, University of London, (2002 – 2003).

Project: After completing my Master's dissertation on re-telling traditional folk tales, I was commissioned to research and write a full-length non-fiction publication covering the topics of folk tales, fairy tales, myth, legend and stories from cultures around the world. These are special areas of interest within my broader interests in anthropology and literature.

Ongoing learning:

2016 -17 Storytelling for Screen, Professional Writing Academy. Studying story and narrative structure with John Yorke, former Head of Channel Four Drama, Controller of BBC Drama Production, and author of Into the Woods: How Stories Work and Why We Tell Them  (Penguin, 2014)

2016 The West Country School of Myth. Delving into story and oral tradition through a year-long programme with Dr Martin Shaw, founder of the Oral Tradition course at Stanford University.

 

Proofreading/Editing Experience and Qualifications

I edit and proofread for publishers, newspapers, magazines, businesses, authors, and individuals. 

Non-fiction topics I've worked on for publsihers include: anthropology, fairy tales, folklore, food, mindfullness, mythology, social sciences.

Manuscripts I've worked on with authors include: travel, memoir, creative non-fiction, short stories, fiction.

I've edited and proofed a wide range of newspaper and magazine articles, including preparing copy for publication by non-native English speakers.

I also have experience developing and delivering creative writing learning materials for online platforms.

Personal Message

I’m a friendly, professional, efficient copy-editor and proofreader with over ten years’ experience. I’ve worked with publishers, magazines, educators, and individuals on a wide range of texts, from full-length non-fiction and fiction manuscripts to shorter articles and essays. I’m based in Cornwall, but have spent time working abroad, so I’m well-versed in working with copy produced by non-native speakers. I have a passion for words and combine an eagle-eye for detail with a flair for language.
