Academic Career

I graduated from West Chester University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor's Degree in Communication Studies in May 2003. Courses included Mass Media Communication, Advanced Public Relations, and Business Writing.

Proofreading/Editing Experience and Qualifications

I have been editing and proofreading professionally for thirteen years. I started my professional proofreading career in 2006 as a proofreader for Institutional Marketing and Communications for The Vanguard Group, and five years later transitioned to editing as the Lead Editor for the Human Resources department for Vanguard. I left Vanguard this past December to become a self-employed freelance editor and proofreader and launched my own company, Precision Editing Services.

While working at Vanguard, I worked on numerous financial pieces, including white papers, fund and ETF literature, and ERISA-related communications, and while in the Human Resources department, I edited numerous health-based communications (benefits information, health and wellness materials, and corporate policies) and retirement literature. Now that I am self-employed, I edit a variety of materials, including magazine articles, grant proposals, fiction and nonfiction manuscripts, and case studies. Clients include Chilled magazine, Brain Child magazine, and Harvard Business Press Review.

Services

I offer content and copy editing, fact-checking, proofreading, and formatting services.

Personal Message

I was born to be an editor- literally. My grandparents were both English professors, and I truly feel editing and proofreading are embedded in my DNA. As a child, I would help my grandmother "grade" papers by looking for spelling errors. That love for the written word has only gotten stronger as I have gotten older.

I offer high-quality services at a fair price. I take my job as an editor seriously, because it's my job to make sure your words are polished to perfection.

Availability

It varies per project. It's always good to let me know about a project ahead of time (especially a large project), but I also know that life happens and things come up unexpectedly. I work with you to meet your deadline without sacrificing quality.
